The command is heard, a gentle, strong decree,
Whispered across the land and over the sea.
Comfort, comfort my people, let the healing start,
Pour solace and rest into every worn heart.
A voice is calling in the silent, waiting space.
“In the wilderness prepare the way for His grace;
make straight in the desert a highway for our God.
Trust in the path where His promise is trod.
Every valley that is low shall be raised up,
Every mountain and hill made low;
the rough ground shall become level,
the rugged places a plain.”
The difficult journey He will rearrange.
And soon the glory of the Lord will be revealed,
His purpose and His majesty unsealed.
And all the people will see it together, know,
For the mouth of the Lord has spoken so.
This is a comfort, a promise clear and true:
He is making a way, Beloved, for you.
