O city crowned in ancient light, Where trumpet echoes sweep the sky.
Foundations blaze with every hue,
Sapphire, emerald, ruby true, and gates of pearl swing open wide,
To welcome hearts from far and near. The Lord loves the gates of Zion,
For it is His holy habitation. Pray for the peace of Jerusalem,
The apple of His eye. May there be peace within your walls,
And security within your citadels.
Jerusalem, you are my highest joy,
Where songs of dancing rise
The world remembers, nations turn,
To seek the Lord Almighty, hearts that burn.
Many peoples and powerful nations will come,
And say, "Let us go up to the mountain of the Lord".
Oh, glorious things are said of thee,
You are the city where all nations meet the King.
If I forget you, Jerusalem,
May my right hand forget its skill.
May my tongue cling to the roof of my mouth,
